18th November

This was my last day in London, I think I'll miss this hectic and stimulating city. After having presented our final presentation we received the certificate of attendance which we were given in front of all the school students and teachers.
Then we dashed to Camden Town since it was one of the few sunny days we had during these 2 weeks, a quick meal with Indian street food and then packing for the day after.
Good plans for the Friday night, a quick but interesting dinner at a libanese restaurant and a theatre comedy at king's head theatre in Upper street ad Angel.

16th November

In the morning and after 5 o' clock the underground looks like a mess, it's so crowded, and you can hear a thousand different languages from all over the world. But  British people are really polite, they never push  and always  queue, most of them even manage to read their Kobol or a newspaper while standing in the tube, unbelievable!
This morning we simulated the recruiting of people for the start up of a company matching the profiles of different candidates to the needs of the different roles according to a determined budget.
Then we analyzed a different activity focused on the description of some world problems and their solution.
In the afternoon we went up to the 37th floor of the skyscraper named walkie talkie, from the sky garden you could see London , it was amazing !!
After that a quick visit of the Tate Britain completed or day, I appreciated Moore's sculptures very much.

15th November

Here I am, as usual, late at night to post my daily blog....
At school we practiced a negotiating activity pretending to represent the government committee on aviation safety, we had to persuade the airlines representatives to implement some safety measures, conceding, in return  some reductions in taxes. The activity was interesting and it can be proposed to a 5th class with a high fluency in English and good problem solving skills.
The next session dealt with the possibility of achieving a balance between consumption/ consume ring and sustainability. The discussion was rich and I appreciated the whole activity .
In the afternoon we really needed a relaxing walk through Hyde Park even though the weather was really dreadful.
Now it's time to go to bed, bye!

14th November

Here is the second week! Today we started a new course with some French guys and we had a team building session with some games, it was fun!. Then we started a class with an Australian teacher who made us write about the natural world and discuss some issues in small groups
In the afternoon we visited the Royal Academy of Arts in Piccadilly, exploring the Abstract expressionism developed in the 1940's, an interesting period in American art, with artists like Pollock, Rothko and de Kooning, Still, Newman and Gorky. They reflect the darkness of their times and  the viewer becomes part of the art. I liked Pollock' s mural a lot. His drip technique consisted in poring industrial paint directly on new canvas laid on the floor.

12th November

Today is the Lord Mayor's show , an historical parade around the city, every guild has its own symbols. All the Army groups are there, with carriages drawn by horses, carriages and trucks , everybody is dressed up around every corner of the London area. The weather is miserable, it ha s just stopped raining heavily, the London regiment is ahead of everybody, the glorious English Army is at its most!!!!
Now let's go to the Natinal Gallery to stay dry first of all!!!

11th November

Hi everybody, thanks for your comments , this gives me the energy to continue writing!
It's Friday , our teachers look a bit tired, even the coordinator who is usually very ironic is losing her verve. Most of her speeches refer to the elections and to Brexit which seem to be both shocking events for the English people.
We were given some more websites to explore in order to involve  students in fun activities. Then, as a speaking activity, he gave us some Hollywood cliches to discuss about. A reading about taking better photos is useful for linking a project and a contest. We then revised all the techniques to have dictations in class.
At the end of the lessons there is an award ceremony for those students who have finished their courses, the atmosphere of the school is playful!
A visit to Liberty ended or day before a Thai dinner with a glass of red wine at Angel and a Moscow mule at a music bar.
Now it' s time to go to bed!

10th November

There was a long debate today about the meaning of democracy and its consequence, the limits of some political systems in the global vision of the political world. Was Trump a vote against mainstream politics, anti establishment ?
We then explored some Internet resources for revising vocabulary

-www.dvolver to make your own movie ( students can choose Their characters, create the dialogues)
In the afternoon our usual 10 km walk around London including a visit to Foyle's bookshop..
